Waterdeep - Thrak and Riardon
Sun Apr 22, 2018 8:46 am
Just after Thrak arrives inside the Merchant Guild Hall, the large double doors which lead to the main conference/council room open up, and people begin to file out. One of them, a tall dark-skinned man, sees Riardon standing off to the side. He breaks off from the swarm of people and makes his way over.
"Riardon Amakiir! It has not been a good day, or a good week, but it's good to see you my friend! What brings you back to Waterdeep?"
Thrak hears all of this, as he is not far from Riardon. In the swarm of people exiting the conference room, Thrak also notices the merchant he met earlier, Zayn Fenran, in close conversation with a shorter-than-average male elf.

I step towards and wave to Zayn, while keeping an ear towards Riardon.

Zayn sees and briefly acknowledges you, but hurries past you out the door, pulling the elf he is talking with out alongside him.
You hear Riardon asking questions that seem to be about price and cost to the dark-skinned man. The man explains that, due to rats destroying much of the goods being stored in the various Merchant Guild warehouses, the guild has been forced to increase their prices for the various establishments in Waterdeep that purchase from them. He says this has also affected many of the merchants that are part of the guild, as practically all of them have their own shops to run as well. Also, less goods have been coming through to Waterdeep recently, due to the goblinoid raids on supply caravans. What's even more strange is that when the caravans are raided, there are always some guards or drivers unaccounted for, that simply disappear.
The dark-skinned man also tells Riardon that he feels there is something behind the sudden increase in rats, and that he isn't sure he trusts some of the guild merchants- even those that claim to have the city's best interests in mind.
